Michael Dukakis Institute launches AI World Society (AIWS) Initiative

On November 22, 2017, Michael Dukakis Institute for Leadership and Innovation launched AI World Society (AIWS) Initiative. The AI World Society is visionary, striving to minimize the harm and threats to humans caused by artificial intelligence, and using all the benefits to reform and renovate the social political system in each country and the world towards honesty, integrity, compassion, responsibility and justice.

The AI World Society consists several parts: Ethical Framework for AI; the rules, standards, legal foundation, governance of AI Society; the models, organizational solutions, social governance in the AI world; and creation, development of products and services for AI society. This is the major project attracting many eminent scholars in AI and government at Boston areas including Harvard University, MIT, Brown University, Naval War College and AI-leading experts from IT world-leading companies in USA.

The founders of AIWS are Governor Michael Dukakis, Co-Founder and President of the Michael Dukakis Institute for Leadership and Innovation, Former Governor of Massachusetts, Democratic Party Nominee for President of the United States, 1988, and Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of Michael Dukakis Institute, founder and Former Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet.

An Ethical Framework for Artificial Intelligence

Michael Dukakis Institute for leadership and Innovation will officially announce the creation of An Ethical Framework for Artificial Intelligence on September 9th 2018, at Harvard University.

As Artificial Intelligence increasingly becomes an engine of worldwide change technologically, societally and personally, it became increasingly evident that an ethical framework was needed for AI’s development and deployment. This new ethical framework follows earlier development of an ethical framework for global interaction on the Internet that was created by the Boston Global Forum and The Michael Dukakis Institute for Leadership and Innovation.

Taking part in the development as well as building awareness and encouraging adoption of An Ethical Framework for Artificial Intelligence are:

Governor Michael Dukakis (Chairman of MDI), Prof. David Silbersweig (Harvard Medical School, AI Director of MDI), Prof. Thomas Patterson (Harvard Kennedy School, Research Director of MDI), Nguyen Anh Tuan (Director of MDI), Bob Rogers (Chief Data Scientist for Analytics and AI, Intel), Ian Googfellow (Google Brain Team, Michael Dukakis Leadership Fellow), Prof. Tina Eliassi-rad (Northeastern University), Bill Ottman (Co-founder and CEO of Minds, Michael Dukakis Leadership Fellow), Prof. Ronald Sandler (Chair, Department of Philosophy and Religion, Northeastern University)…
